Background: Electron carrier protein. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase. Cytochrome c then transfers this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain. Plays a role in apoptosis. Suppression of the anti-apoptotic members or activation of the pro-apoptotic members of the Bcl-2 family leads to altered mitochondrial membrane permeability resulting in release of cytochrome c into the cytosol. Binding of cytochrome c to Apaf-1 triggers the activation of caspase-9, which then accelerates apoptosis by activating other caspases.

Image kindly submitted by an end-user via Funakoshi. 4% Paraformaldehyde fixed HeLa cells stained with Rabbit Anti-Cytochrome C Polyclonal Antibody (bs-0013R) at 1:100 for 2 hours at room temperature


L1 mouse brain lysates L2 mouse lung lysates probed with Anti Cytochrome C Polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (bs-0013R) at 1:200 overnight at 4˚C. Followed by conjugation to secondary antibody (bs-0295G-HRP) at 1:3000 for 90 min at 37˚C. Predicted band 26kD. Observed band size:26kD.


Formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded rat brain labeled with Rabbit Anti-Cytochrome C Polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (bs-0013R) 1:300 followed by conjugation to the secondary antibody and DAB staining


HepG2 cells probed with Cytochrome C Polyclonal Antibody, unconjugated (bs-0013) at 1:100 dilution for 30 minutes compared to control cells (blue) and isotype control (orange).


Tissue/cell:Sh-sy5y cell; 4% Paraformaldehyde-fixed; Triton X-100 at room temperature for 20 min; Blocking buffer (normal goat serum, C-0005) at 37°C for 20 min; Antibody incubation with (Cytochrome C) polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (bs-0013R) 1:100, 90 minutes at 37°C; followed by a FITC conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG antibody at 37°C for 90 minutes, DAPI (blue, C02-04002) was used to stain the cell nuclei.
