Plasma membrane-anchored serine protease that cleaves at arginine residues.Participates in proteolytic cascades of relevance for the normal physiologic function of the prostate.(Microbial infection) Facilitates human coronaviruses SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 infections via two independent mechanisms, proteolytic cleavage of ACE2 receptor which promotes viral uptake, and cleavage of coronavirus spike glycoproteins which activates the glycoprotein for host cell entry.

Paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin embedded Human Prostate Cancer; Antigen retrieval by boiling in sodium citrate buffer (pH6.0) for 15 min; The section was incubated with TMPRSS2 Monoclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (bsm-62174R) at 1:200 overnight at 4°C, followed by conjugation to the bs-0295G-HRP and DAB (C-0010) staining.
